Homilies & Reflections
One thing I ask of the Lord. This I long to dwell in the house of the Lord,
all the days of my
life.

*REFLECTION FOR FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-NINTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II*
"Bear with one another charitably, in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience. Do all you can to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together" (Eph 4: 2-3).
In the first reading today (Eph 4: 1-6), we hear St. Paul from prison writing to the brethren in Ephesus pleading with them to "live a life worthy of their calling" (Eph 4: 1). They are to reflect in their lives the One who called them into a relationship with Himself. This radical way of living unites them to one another in one faith, one body, one spirit and to God.
In the gospel reading (Lk 12: 54-59), Christ warns the crowd who have failed to read the "signs of the time", calling them to repentance and unity with Christ who have come to reconcile the world to the Father through his death and resurrection (2Cor 5: 19).
Dear friends, Jesus is ready to liberate us from any obstacle to our living a life worthy of our calling. If we give our lives to Him, He will fill us with His Holy Spirit and give us a new heart and a transformed mind that is filled with His truth, love, peace and goodness.
I pray that as we journey in life today, we will be freed of any hinderance to our reconciliation with God and our neighbours. Our lives will have lasting peace and joy if we allow the Lord Jesus to transform every area of our lives, that He may be truly the Lord and Giver of abundant life and righteousness. Let us be mindful of that which unites us together as one in Christ Jesus - one faith, one baptism that makes us "new creation". Have a transformation-full day!
