Homilies & Reflections
One thing I ask of the Lord. This I long to dwell in the house of the Lord,
all the days of my
life.

*REFLECTION FOR SATURDAY OF THE TWENTY-THIRD WEEK IN* *ORDINARY TIME YEAR II*
Our readings today remind us that our actions speak volumes on our commitments in relationship. There is only one way in which a person's sincerity can be proved, and that is by one's practice. Fine words can never replace good deeds. Our character is revealed in the choices we make, especially when we are tested.
Paul speaking to the Corinthians (1 Cor 10: 14-22), chides those who partake at the table of the Lord and at the same time at pagan ritual (un-godly commitment). God abhors "Dual Citizenship" - citizen of heaven and citizen of the "world". To whom am I committed to?
Speaking still on the integrity of our actions, Jesus in the gospel (Luke 6: 43-49) instructs that good tree cannot bear bad fruit nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Words are good but not enough, our actions reflect what we believe.
Dear friends, as *Charles Read* said: "Sow an act and you reap a habit. Sow a habit and you reap a character. Sow a character and you reap a destiny." Character, like fruit, doesn't grow overnight. It takes a lifetime.
I pray as we journey in life today, we will listen to the Word of God with the "ears of our heart" so that we can do God's will as God wills. May our actions proclaim our believe in God and radiate our love for one another. May our unquestionable responds to God's will bring joy and thanksgiving to our lives. Have commitment-full day!
